Ensemble of the Novodevichy Convent - south-western Moscow, Russia
The Novodevichy Convent was built in 1524 as a fortress at a curve of the Moskva River and became an important part of the southern defensive belt of the capital. One of the most beautiful Moscow convents, the Novodevichy Convent is the most outstanding example of the so-called "Moscow Baroque" style of architecture.
Ensemble of the Novodevichy Convent (New Maidens' Monastery) was proclaimed in 2004 a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
